Police said Arthur Louis Muse, 49, told them he was in the bathroom of his rooming house in the 1200 block of Centre Avenue when a man came in, hit him over the head with a whisky bottle, and took his wallet containing about $35.

Police located a suspect and brought him to the warrant office, but the magistrate refused to issue a warrant for the man's arrest because the victim appeared to be intoxicated, according to the police report. Russell Lee Andrews, 40, of Rt. 2, Bedford, was quoted as saying he was driving around town with three men shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday when one of the three stuck something in his neck and demanded his wallet. Police said the three men got out the car and ran, taking Andrews' car keys with them. Andrews stopped a policeman at the intersection of Franklin Road and Day Avenue, SW, to report the incident.
