Cindy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Larron Lindsey Cyphers and Pheroby Shaver Cyphers.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Leigh Cyphers. Surviving are her brother, Lynn Douglas Cyphers; sister-inlaw, Carolyn L. Cyphers; niece, Amanda Blair Cyphers; all of Roanoke; a devoted special friend, Eddie Dooley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, her loving church family, and caring friends. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 3 p.m.

PETERS, Leon Granville (Pete), 81, of Roanoke, and formerly of Franklin County, died Tuesday morning, May 28, 2002. Pete was educated in the public schools of Franklin County and had served on the Electorial Board.

L.G. was a dedicated member of the Virginia State Police Department, serving as a Dispatcher for 33 years and had graduated from the Virginia State Police Academy. He was a member of Boones Mill United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Isaacs Masonic Lodge A.F. A.M., the Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies, Kazim Shrine Temple and was past director of the Director's Staff and was a member of Etta Chapter OES. He served as President of the Boones Mill Lions Club and worked with the Boones Mill Apple Festival.

L.G., because of his unique physical condition, spent his life making others happy, especially children. He worked diligently for the Shriners crippled children and was an active participant in the "Cactus Joe and Little Biddy Pete" children's television show for many years. L.G. was the last surviving child of the late Leon Sr. and Lucy Wray Peters and was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Minix, Natalie Purves; and his brothers, Hubert, Berlin, Wray and Keith Peters.

Leon is survived by a niece, Sarah Angle Purves of Roanoke, with whom he made his home for the past 52 years. He is also survived by a special niece, Susan Purves Angle of Roanoke; special nephews and their families, Stephen A. Purves and wife, Mary Ann and their children, Meghan and Patrick of Columbia, S.C., Boyd Purves and wife, Karen and their children, Timmothy and Matthew of Painesville, Ohio; special cousins, Maxine Wray Angle and June Haynes; a devoted special friend, Carol Chappell; his sisters-in-law, Cathy Peters of Roanoke, Estelle Peters of Florida. A memorial service will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel Thursday, May 30 at 2 p.m. Inurnment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Franklin County with a Masonic graveside service and a service by the State Police Honor Guard.

She worked as a supervisor for 25 years for the Cafeteria. She is survived by her husband Roy Bernard Trent; son, Ronald S. Trent; daughters, Gwen Lynch Christian and husband Phil, Theresa Faye Burdette and husband Harve, and Deborah Kay Anderton; grandchildren, Kimberley and husband Robbie Furrow, Misty Michelle Trent, Chad McDaniel Burdette and wife Dawn, Crystal Marie Burdette, Neil Cody Cormany; great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Furrow; five sisters; five brothers; several nieces and nephews. WILLIAMS, George Albert, STUART, Susie Carlotta 73, of Salem, died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Lewis Gale Medical Center. Born September 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank and Mamie Williams of Maybrook, Va. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and retired from General Electric after 33 years of service. He was a member of Mason's Cove Church of the Brethren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Laura Williams, Alma Kathleen Evans, Reba Sue Lucas, and Mary Elizabeth Porterfield.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Norma W. Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Gary N. and Katherine B. Williams of Salem; sons, James F. Williams of Newport News, and Michael D.

Williams of Scottsdale, a daughter and son-in-law, Delana W. and 1 Randolph A. Owen of Nashville. a sister, Margaret W. Lucas; brother and sister-in-law, Chapman M.

Oakey Son Funeral Home. WRIGHT, Ruby Bones, of Roanoke, died Monday, May 27, 2002 in Alpharetta, Ga. Mrs. Wright was a long time resident of Roanoke and the widow of Frank B. Wright.

She is survived by a son, Terry Wright of Roanoke; a daughter, Kathleen Wright and son-in-law, Robert Smiley of Goochland; a daughter, Martha Wright of Rosewell, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Jean Hall and Estelle Wright of Shawsville and Garnett Ross of Salem. Mrs. Wright was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church for 56 years and was active in community service organizations. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Magazine Street, Pulaski. Penn's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. NEELY, Mary Stella, went to live with her precious Jesus, Sunday, May 26, 2002, being united with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Marcelino Garza and her brothers, Jessie and Saragosa Garza. Stella was born in Tilden, Texas in 1941, relocating to the New River Valley in 1988 after residing in Laurel Bloomery, Tenn. Stella considered herself blessed to be used by God to minister as a career nurse for 31 years. She is remembered with admiration by the patients and staff of Montgomery Regional Hospital, Warm Hearth, Meadowbrook and Richfield. Stella gave her Lord all the glory that she had battled an extensive lung disease since the age of 12, defying medical opinion of just a few years of expected life.

Her fervent prayers and love go with her surviving children, daughter, Nona Lee and husband, Jamie Hegarty of Christiansburg, Va. and grandson, Stephen Lee Adcock of Mississippi; son, Wade C. Lewis of Dallas, Texas and granddaughter, Katherine Elaine Lewis of Richmond, daughter, Rojion and husband, Matthew Gillenwater and granddaughters, Taylor Sheppard, Ashley and Sidney of Maryville, Tenn. Stella is also survived by brothers, Marcelino Garza of California, Pedro and Martin Garza of Texas; and sister, Beatrice Garza also of Texas; as well as numerous family and friends. A Celebration Memorial Service will be held at Main Street Baptist Church, Christiansburg, Va.

Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 2 p.m. In honor of Stella's new heavenly life, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association. Bedford-Franklin LAPRADE, Paul Brubaker, 84, of Boones Mill, died Monday, May 27, 2002. He was born March 20, 1918 a son of the late I.N. and Nannie Brubaker LaPrade.

He was a member and lifetime Deacon of the Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, where he also served on various boards and committees, served as Board Chairman and was always available for any need at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Barnhart LaPrade, July 9, 1998. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Faye LaPrade of Rocky Mount, Earl and Jane LaPrade of Boones Mill, Kenneth and Janice LaPrade of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Paul Snead of Forest; grandchildren, Dennis and wife Misty LaPrade of Forest, Beverley and husband Danny Dudley of Hardy, Kimberly and husband John Aldridge husband of Rocky Mount, Nancy, and Jody Fincham of Orange, Stephanie and husband Noel Naff of West Manchester, Ohio, Michael LaPrade of Broadway, Emily LaPrade of Boones Mill, Ethan Snead of Forest; great grandchildren, Morgan LaPrade of Forest, Dustin and Taylor Dudley Hardy; one sister, Julia LaPrade of Callaway; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and June LaPrade of Roanoke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rada and Galen Flora of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law Bertha Barnhart of Rocky Mount; many nieces, nephews and friends of the church and community. She was born December 4, 1923, to the late John and Zula Quarles. Mrs. Bonds was married to the late Elbert H. Bonds for 59 years. Those left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Dianne (Jimmy) Jones, Cheryl Elaine (Jerry) Cooper and Janice White; two sons, Eddie (Gloria) Bonds and Ray (Pauline) Bonds; eight grandchildren, Jocelyn (Keith) Frasier, Jerry Cooper, Erika Cooper, Marcus Bonds, Garrett Bonds, Monica Bonds, Daniel Bonds and Jasmine White; one great-grandson, Keith Frasier, six sisters, Frances Waldron, Elizabeth Norrell, Lena Basham, Mary Evans, Shirley Bonds and Phyllis Watkins; two brothers, Jerome and Robert Quarles; three brothers-in-law, James Dean, Bruce Basham and Nelson Evans; two sisters-in-law, Irene Dean and Vera Quarles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. LEE, Curtis A. 59, of Salem, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Curtis was owner of Solid State Services, Inc.

for 25 years. Later he was employed by Plastics One, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis A. Lee, Sr. and Ealie Martin Lee.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Shirley A. Crawford Lee of Salem; his son, Travis A. Lee of Salem; his stepson, Michael E. Williams of Salem: sister, Jan E. Todd of Taylor, S.C.

Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Michael Williams, Brent Lee, Jordan Lee, Brandon Lee, also three nieces, Debra Thornhill, Lisa Jenkins, Sherri Crawford; nephews, Ray Crawford and (T.J.) Timothy Thornhill. Graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park, Thursday, May 30 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James S. Angle officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Salem Chapel. McCLELLAND, Jean Alex- ander, 84, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, May 27, 2002. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Benjamin E.

McClelland, who loved her beyond all measure. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Victoria Dykstra of Roanoke; a grandson, Aaron Alexander Dykstra of Newport News; and a sister, Loris Wiles of Roulette, Pa. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Grace Academy (2731 Edgewood Street, SW, Roanoke, Va. 24015).

A time of fellowship celebrating the life of Jean will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the home of George and Debbie Studtmann (115 Par Drive, Salem, Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel. State GRUBB, Harry Douglas, 70, of Wytheville, and a resident of Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin, died Monday, May 27, 2002. He was born in Radford, the son of the late Harry Brown and Mary M. Crockett Grubb.

He was a former maintenance supervisor with Tuttle Electric and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Catherine Wainwright. He is survived by his daughter, Reva Christine Grubb Neel of Wytheville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Rolfe Christian and Joyce Ann Grubb of Blacksburg, Mark Fulton and Xora Grubb of Fort Worth, Texas; and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2002 at 11 a.m.

Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements. HENSON, Raymond Lewis, (Pee Wee), 75, of Buena Vista, died Monday, May 27, 2002 at his residence. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002 at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home. JUSTICE, Edward Jordan, 72, of Buena Vista, died Monday, May 27, 2002 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born February 14, 1930 in Buena Vista, he was a son of the late Earl "Red" and Earle Lynn Justice.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having service in the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife, Estelle Justice of Buena Vista; two sons, Mark Edward Justice of Verona and David Earl Justice of Buena Vista; and his special friends, Dee Snider of Lexington; a brother, Jerry Justice of Huddleston. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev.

McGHEE, Thomas Marshall, of Purcellville, died Monday, May 27, 2002 in Rose Hill Nursing Home, Berryville, Va. at age 83. Mr. McGhee was born January 17, 1919 in Rocky Mount, Va. to Jesse and Sarah McGhee.

He worked for Telephone for 36 years and served his country in the 29th Division of the United States Army in Europe. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Brown McGhee of Purcellville, two sons, Michael J. McGhee of Falls Church, Va. and Doug McGhee of Middleburg, daughter, Donna McGhee Pruitt of Purcellville, sister, Nancy Edwards of Vienna, and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held by the Rev.
