OBITUARIES Sunday, December 22, 2013 6 THE ROANOKE TIMES MILLS Norma Louise Ayers Norma Louise Mills, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 a Brandon Oaks Rehabilitation Center. Norma was born on December 1, 1921 to Rosamond Johnston and Andrew Ayers. Her husband of 60 years, Wendell Ward Mills, predeceased her in 2005. Norma and Wendell retired back to their hometown of Roanoke after Wendell's retirement in 1992. She will be remembered for her radiant smile and loving manner towards everyone.

She died being as generous as she lived her life by donating her body to the Medical College of Virginia; a gift that she encourages others to make. Surviving are her son Ward Mills and wife, Jerri, of Roanoke; son, William Mills and wife Janice of Durham, N.C.; grandchildren, Erich and wife, Jessica, of Roanoke, Wendy Morrill and husband Dale of Creedmoor, N.C., Ryan Mills and Tyler Mills, both of Raleigh, Heather Mills and Amy Mills, both of Durham, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Peyton Morrill of Creedmore, N.C. and Will Mills of Roanoke. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the many wonderful care givers at Brandon Oaks and Gentle Sheppard Hospice Care of Roanoke. She is predeceased by her father, Edward R. Martin. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Gladys Martin Spraker; husband, Steve A.

Nichols; son, Steve A Nichols, (Dionne); daughter, Genie S. Nichols(Jesse); special son, Austin Martin; grandchildren, Tristan, Sydney and Clementine; sister, Christie Dishon; brothers, Barry, Clayton, Donnie, Tony, Richard, and Patrick Martin; 26 great nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members and friends. JONES Ella Kidd Ella Kidd Jones, 82, of Moneta, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2013. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in Goodview, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She touched many lives through the years as she kept children and welcomed friends and family into her home. She was predeceased by her parents, Ezra and Mary Kidd; brothers, Howard, Houston, Elbert and Clarence Kidd; and a sister, Mabel Weaver. Surviving family includes her husband of 56 years, Dennis Jones; sons and daughter-in-law, Denny Jones and Steve and Kelly Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ronnie Morgan; brothers, Carlton, Garland and Charles Kidd; sisters, Alice Sydnor and Lola Edwards; grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Brittany Klein and husband, Nathan, Whitney Jones, Lakota Jones, Taylor Morgan and Jacob Morgan; and great granddaughter, Jayla Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Southside Baptist Church in Goodview, with Pastor Donnie Glass officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. She was born in Bedford, Va. on February 26, 1980, a daughter of Michael E. "Mickey" Reynolds and Wanda B. Reynolds. She loved taking road trips and traveling.

She also loved spending time with her children, family and friends. Wendy was employed by Berglund of Bedford. She never met a stranger or ever hesitated to help her family or friends in a time of need. in addition to her parents, Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Joshua Ryan Rector; three children, Alex Tuck, Hailey Branch and Charlee Sue Rector; two brothers, Bryant E. Reynolds and wife, Danielle, and Jeffrey E.

Reynolds and wife, Beth; a brother-in-law, Jason R. Rector and his wife, Martha L. Rector; nieces and nephews, Cody Reynolds, Kristin Reynolds, Chandler Reynolds, Emily Rector and Chad Rector; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of many friends. WALLENBORN Dolly Franklin Dolly Franklin Wallenborn, 89, beloved wife of Dr. Peter A.

Wallenborn passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born in Concord, the only child of Lawson Baylis and Grace Cross Franklin. She was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College. After marriage in 1946, she settled in Roanoke where she enjoyed golf, bridge and time with her family and friends. She was actively involved in a number of community organizations and a long time member of St.

John's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Peter A. Wallenborn six children, Betty (Ed) Green, Ann Wallenborn, Peter (Pat) Wallenborn, David (Becky) Wallenborn, Ellen (Terry) McHugh, and Robert Wallenborn; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Case, Catherine (Bennett) White, Alice (McKnight) Brown, Grace Wallenborn, Olivia Wallenborn, Claire (Paul) Knittle, Kurt Wallenborn, Baylis Wallenborn; and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank both the staff of Pheasant Ridge Senior Living Community and Southern Care Hospice for their care and support.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church at Jefferson St. and Elm Ave. Roanoke, VA on Sunday, December 22, 2013 followed by visitation in the Parish Hall.

Surviving are her children, Eddie Booth and wife, Patricia, Randy Booth and wife, Tracey, Lisa Booth Tilley and husband, Rickey, Betty Booth Custer and husband, Carey: sisters, Shirley Spencer and Joyce Gibson; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Reba worked until the age of 80. She enjoyed having many friends. She loved people, traveling and living life to the fullest. OVERSTREET Phyllis Elaine Phyllis Elaine Overstreet, 72, of Salem, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 4, 2013. She is predeceased by her parents, Hobert and Daisy Turpin; and siblings, Joseph D. Turpin, Betty Miles, and Carolyn Turpin. "Mama Phyl" was a mother to everyone. She loved gardening, cooking and anything related to children and family.

She was rich in love and kindness. She will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touch. Her home was where everybody came and loved to eat. Left to cherish her memory are children, Mark D. Price, Terry L.

Born on November 26, 1920, in Christiansburg, she was a daughter of the late William Madison and Lucinda Boothe Scaggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred N. Stanley; five brothers, Marshall, Miller, Dallas, Bill and Orby Scaggs; two sisters, Ila Bowman and Iva Bandy; and a daughter-in-law, Claudia Stanley. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Joyce Stanley, of Greenville, Dennis Stanley, of Salem and Jeff and JoEllen Stanley, of Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Albert Cupp and Bonnie and Arvil Glovier, all of Roanoke; eleven grandchildren, Frank Cupp, Lisa Drummond, Lori Chitwood, Kristin Via, Kim Shell, Denny Stanley, Michael Stanley, Valerie Warren, Travis Stanley, Kyle Stanley and Tim Glovier; sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Despite her declining health in recent years, she always managed to maintain her inimitable blend of orneriness and sweet southern charm. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh McCain and her parents, Mack and Mamie Marshall. She will be sadly missed by her loving family including daughters, Janet Murphy, of Raleigh, N.C., Nancy McCain, of Richmond, Marcia Davenport, of Slidell, and Lori Kroll, of Elliston; brother, Thomas Marshall, of Midland, grandchildren, Amanda Darling, Adam Smith, Carrie Holeman, Raini Ott, Christen Lane Hudson, David Whitney Ott, Amanda Kroll, Jessica roll; a her great-granddaughter, Madilyn Holeman.

In accordance with Beverly's wishes, a celebration of life and picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway will be arranged for family and friends in the spring. An online guestbook is available at Edna graduated from Radford College in 1932, and began her teaching career in Montgomery County. The following year she married Roscoe and continued teaching in various schools in Pulaski County, retiring in 1973 with 32 years of service. Edna was a life- long member, a as well as the oldest member of Snowville Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities.

She was devoted to her church and community. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney T. and Nancy M. Shelburne, of Snowville; a daughter, Maxine S. Dishon, of Pulaski; four grandchildren, Sandy S.

Landreth and her husband, Ron, of Radford; Clay Dishon and his wife, Leah, of Richmond; Ron Shelburne and his wife, Terri, of Snowville; and Lori S. Angle and her husband, Shannon, of Snowville. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Jake, Jessica, and Jenna Shelburne; Lauren and Brad Landreth; and Hunter and Granger Angle; two nieces, Pat Catron and Lotus Phillips, both of Dublin; and one nephew, Steve Phillips. A service to celebrate Edna's life will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Snowville Baptist Church with the Rev.

Neil Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
